Good Evening Lovelies!!! I hope everyone had an amazing, RESTFUL weekend. A flu shot gone haywire took me down a notch so… all I did was rest.
Well, the moment has finally come… We are FINALLY getting to the nitty-gritty of our journey. The Writing Prompts!!! I will tell you guys now, I own at least ten books with writing prompts, and slowly but surely, we will make our way through these prompts. Some are really good, some are…. meh. BUT… that doesn’t always mean we have to write this long, elaborate story for the prompt. Sometimes two to three sentences work just fine. These are exercises to get the creative juices flowing, and to strengthen our most needed muscle… Our Brain.
Our first prompt today comes from 642 THINGS TO WRITE ABOUT by The San Francisco Writer’s Grotto. This book holds a lot of nostalgia for me because this is the very first prompt book I ever bought. So, I figured… why not start where it all began? You all will probably roll your eyes at me when you see what I chose as our first writing prompt. Please bear with me… there is a reason why I chose this prompt.
The first prompt I chose (as cliché as it may be) is:
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT LOVE NOWADAYS?
There have been times in my life where I’ve felt betrayed by love, even resented love. Reading about soul mates, twin flames and destiny gives me hope that “True Love” does exist. Between movies, television, romance novels, etc., we develop unrealistic expectations of love that could potentially hurt us more than the actual person we care for. Nowadays, I feel very neutral towards love. I do believe in love, I do believe there is someone for everyone. I suppose the current status of the world has done NOTHING to improve my feelings towards the emotion. But for now, I am neutral. I do not love “Love”, and I do not hate “Love”.
Now, here is a treat. I actually wrote something for this prompt back in 2014. I will warn you, I was dating a jerk at the time and thus why my thoughts were a little angsty.
5/13/2014: Love sucks. No, wait… I take that back… what is love? Is love the thing that causes us to obsess over another human being to the point we can’t see straight? Or is love the drama-filled, fight-starting, jealous instinct that drives us all to the brink of insanity? Yeah, I was right the first time… Love sucks.
Well, that’s all for now my Lovelies!!! Tell me what you think of my writing, THEN VS. NOW. LOL!!! Please, post your responses below of today’s writing prompt, I would love to read what you guys come up with. Have an amazing week Everyone!!!
Love, Leslie
